01 / THE METHOD

Get a vessel-specific quote

Visitor, monthly and annual rates can vary by length, beam, berth type, season and location. Ask for a written quote based on your actual dimensions and dates. Do not assume that a price shown online means a suitable berth is available.

02 / THE METHOD

List every extra

Check shore power, water, pump-out, parking, storage, security access, key deposits, environmental charges, haul-out or hardstand fees, and contractor access. Also ask whether taxes and card surcharges are included. For a long stay, consider the cost of getting to the boat and moving it for maintenance.

03 / THE METHOD

Read the conditions

A lower tariff may come with a longer commitment, different cancellation terms or less flexible access. Check notice periods, insurance requirements, berth changes, liveaboard or pet rules, storm responsibilities and whether the operator can alter the berth assignment.

04 / THE METHOD

Compare value for the job

Choose against your purpose: a visitor stop, a permanent home berth or a refit base. Include your time, travel and service availability. A better-located berth might save transport or maintenance costs, while a working yard may matter more than waterfront amenities during a refit.

Record berth-specific answers and source dates

A blank field is useful when it becomes a precise question. Record who answered, when they answered and whether the reply applies to the exact berth, vessel and dates.

Verify before acting.

These questions support a shortlist, not a berth guarantee or navigation plan. Advice can be wrong; consult current official information and the site disclaimer.
